Dear Friends,
Are we all subject to wearing a disguise? If so, can we identify with why we hide our beautiful selves? What is it that we can offer each other to drop the mask and find a place of peace within ourselves?
A walk in nature always starts off with our story, our agendas, our projections, especially our affected nervous system. Which eventually drops onto the forest floor, step by step. the mind is loud, very loud in the beginning of a practice, or a performance. We anticipate and project the outcome.
When is it we can just go, naked, into the mind, the mind’s conversation of battle? This is what happens when you try to get out of bed before the sun rises. Taking a cold shower. Wrapping yourself up, and sitting with yourself.
We must become devotional, in order to bypass the tendency to abandon. We must understand the uncomfortable place is a sure sign to say stay, don’t move, listen. “I have something to share with you.”
We tend to compare our situation to another’s, yet it is really none of our business to do so. Yet, because we don’t establish a sadhana, the reactive place dismantles the truth, and we go, as empaths, into a dualistic dilemma.
When we have a kundalini yogic meditation practice established, the experience brings us to an awareness to identify and help conquer the tendency, or even temptation, to have a reaction.
It sparks the immediate awareness at that exact, one-pointed, devotional place, that reminds us to be still, to listen, which brings in any mudra of kindness.
So when we get low frequency, we can automatically bring it to a higher level of awareness. Kundalini yoga is a science, it works to heal the glandular system on its own. You don’t do anything except show up and breathe a specific pranayama to elevate the frequency.
What do you get? You get that awareness, those subtle body awakenings that protect you, elevate you. That help you to understand the world as it is today. It wasn’t this way yesterday, and it won’t be this way tomorrow. And whatever way it is, it’s just to be.
We worry, we fear, which sets us up for sabotage, leading ultimately to rejection. We have very familiar habits and patterns. I’m asking you, are you ready to let go of them? And honestly, when you can do a selfless service for yourself by being kind and gentle and forgiving, you can come to that zero. And your time you spend helping another is greatly satisfying. It’s that deeper breath that goes ahhh thank you. Even sometimes you do a good deed for someone and they don’t even know. Why do we need recognition?
Im so excited to be a part of my second year with the Illuminate Film Festival. I can’t wait to sit in the presence of cinema with a relaxed heart knowing these films are upgrading our consciousness to recognize how valuable our contribution is for a greater transformation. We are in a transition, let’s just agree to the fact that each and every one of us plays a big part in this global cosmic puzzle.
So this week, I was invited to join One True Self summit on May 5th. You can sign up and enjoy the conversation. I met with Julia on Friday and we took a deeper dive into the uniqueness of kundalini yoga and its effects. And I hope you will find the conversation engaging and helpful towards your practice.

Yoga saved my life. May it help you to live yours. ~Karuna
Although I just published Light on Kundalini: Your Lifestyle Guide to Yoga and Awakening, Kundalini Yoga is a 3,000-year-old practice. Its meditation, mantra, and mudra along with asana continue to inform our nervous systems and align our chakras to be human beings and not just human doings. When you practice Kundalini Yoga on a regular basis, it changes your system, unlocks bandhas with the key of “ONG,” and manifests a relaxed place of acceptance, an inner glow like no other, also translated as joy, bliss, authenticity, and empowerment.
These Kundalini Yoga practices, woven into the fabric of the Costa Rica tropics and sunsets — the water, the birds, the lush vegetation, the beach — provide the opportunity for you to partner with Gaia and your deepest Self to open wider to possibility, to give yourself the space and room to unknot and release into ease. Relax into your innate state of being where communication becomes kind and compassionate, where you remember who and what you really are and can let go.
So, I warmly offer you this week… Come release, renew, and restore — drop whatever may be weighing you down and elevate.

Weekly Recipe
Caramel Custard Filipino-Style
In the Philippines caramel custard is served on special occasions with a topping of slivered macapuno, a mutant glutinous coconut. Macapuno in syrup is available canned from some Southeast Asian grocers. If you find it, you might wish to give it a try. If you want to invert the custard onto a serving plate to bring it to the table, you should butter the mold lightly before pouring in the liquid custard.
Ingredients
FOR THE CUSTARD
3 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
A scant ½ cup sugar
Pinch of salt
3 cups canned evaporated milk
1/ teaspoons vanilla extract
Butter for greasing (optional)
FOR THE CARAMEL
A scant ½ cup sugar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Pour about 1 inch hot water into a roasting pan large enough to hold a custard mold of about 5 cups capacity or 4 individual molds. Place this pan in the oven.
Put the eggs and egg yolks into a bowl. Beat them lightly, but not to a froth. Add the sugar and salt and mix in. Heat the evaporated milk until it is very hot. Slowly pour the hot milk into the bowl with the eggs, whisking vigorously as you do so.
Add the vanilla and mix in.
