Happy Spring!
Light on Kundalini Newsletter
Dear Friends and Family,
Happy Spring!
This week has been filled with the continuation of honoring Women’s History Month and it started with a passing of a dear sister, Sat Kar Tar Kaur Khalsa.
I had the honor of meeting Sat Kar Tar early on in the very beginning stages of my Kundalini Yoga teacher training, I felt very vulnerable to a new practice, although I had been doing yoga for two and a half decades already. This was something else. This struck the nerve that needed to awaken inside of me. Ultimately giving me the discipline I have today. This journey continues to this day 20 years later.
For some magical reason Sat Kar Tar and I were drawn together to share deeper conversations around God and Guru, which was important to me at the time (and still is) to feel the security and truth behind what Kundalini Yoga is. I love her music and her transparency. She spoke from a depth of truth that gave me courage and strength. Kundalini Yoga influences us on a cellular level and part of that awakening comes from the sound current, the Naad.
I started falling in love with the music, first and foremost, of kundalini yoga because it deeply resonated a feeling of sincerity, hope, unity, forgiveness, empowerment, which ultimately led me to compassion and trust.
The last time I spent with Sat Kar Tar was at Summer Solstice strumming her guitar with all her heart and soul next to her beloved Guru during morning Sadhana Gurdwara, as the sun was rising, she would end with the Song of the Khalsa, echoing into the valley surrounding Ram Das Puri, and wake us up to what is present. We need each other again like this, we have to start seeing these gifts of who we are in community, working together, sharing conversations, we have to look more closely to the importance of building out old and creating new relationships.
I’m so grateful for our divine sisterhood and time. May she rest in peace and her family receive her grace now more than ever before from the heavens above, and the earth below. I bow.
Akaal, Akaal, Akaal, dear friend.

Yoga saved my life. May it help you to live yours. ~Karuna
Although I just published Light on Kundalini: Your Lifestyle Guide to Yoga and Awakening, Kundalini Yoga is a 3,000-year-old practice. Its meditation, mantra, and mudra along with asana continue to inform our nervous systems and align our chakras to be human beings and not just human doings. When you practice Kundalini Yoga on a regular basis, it changes your system, unlocks bandhas with the key of “ONG,” and manifests a relaxed place of acceptance, an inner glow like no other, also translated as joy, bliss, authenticity, and empowerment.
These Kundalini Yoga practices, woven into the fabric of the Costa Rica tropics and sunsets — the water, the birds, the lush vegetation, the beach — provide the opportunity for you to partner with Gaia and your deepest Self to open wider to possibility, to give yourself the space and room to unknot and release into ease. Relax into your innate state of being where communication becomes kind and compassionate, where you remember who and what you really are and can let go.
So, I warmly offer you this week… Come release, renew, and restore — drop whatever may be weighing you down and elevate.

You speak about the importance of Sound in Yoga. Can you talk about how sound brought you to yoga and how/why it continues to guide people to Awakening?
Yogic sound is everything from your breath to the tone of your body and voice in accordance with the divine vibrations of the universe. Its therapy is so healing. We start from the heart chakra (neutral mind) up. The frequency is timely, and the vibration of it raises your awareness and retunes your body to the cosmic, universal frequency, which awakens the Chitta, universal mind, allowing us to heal and be whole. This brings a vibration that overrides whatever is going on and resets you. Music is everything. Gong is therapy. Bowls heal. Pure and relaxing vibrations will resonate in the soul and bring forth the soul’s innate energy to heal grief and so much more.
Yogic sound vibrates on such an internal level to cultivate the awareness of where the pain points reside, so that you are then able to open to healing and wholeness, to receive relief and experience the peace that resides in the deep heart, the Self, the soul.
I have lain in deep, deep pain, four gongs being played at once in session, but heard the guidance “Don’t move!” surrendered, and the pain dissolved. We have amazing inner guidance.
